My past experiences and the land I stand on have made me who I am today. Over the years, I have found the relationships with some family members, men, and myself to be less than ideal. I use my symbolic paintings as a means to reclaim my memories surrounding these past relationships— using Pin-Up to reclaim my own body. All the while, celebrating where I come from, where I have been, and where I hope to be. I am from Mt. Airy NC, little ole Mayberry! I came to Asheville to study art at UNCA since it has a very rigorous program! I dabbled in different forms of art until deciding that mixed media/oil painting was the way to go! As I practiced, I realized that I not only could create good work… but fun work! After finding how well jokes could land on canvas, I took off and hope to continue this body of work for years to come!
