We have a new exhibit this month, reflecting the creative spirit of women from the Western Correctional Ctr. For Women (WCCW). The Benevolence Team has been leading the efforts at WCCW to get funding support for the supplies as well as supplying volunteers each week so that the women can meet and work on their art. The women have been meeting on Mondays and Fridays with the support of FCUCC members, allowing them the time and opportunity to create their artwork. We continue to look for others who might volunteer for this program. Plans are in motion for continuing this experience on an ongoing basis, with donated funds from friends and family members of the women as well as church and community supporters.
This opportunity has been greatly appreciated by prison counselors and staff in that it has worked as therapy and release for some of these women.
